He promised to take her away. He said he was going to save her. He knew she deserved better and genuinely loved her. He was Homer Simpson.
She was Marge Bouvier and she was beautiful with a round face, long neck and flowing blue locks. Her long-lithe limbs sent chills up Homer's spine. She was graceful, poised and scantily dressed. Cheers and woops rose from the crowd as Marge slid down the pole. Knowing full well that she was a crowd favourite, Marge slipped a wink to one of the clubs regulars, as she quickly scanned her audience for the one face she really wanted to make smile.
He noticed her scanning the crowd and straightened his back hoping she would look his way.
"Oh where is he?" she thought to herself as she leaned back into a flip with her legs splayed. Wolf whistles erupted from the men in the front row as Homer moved himself to a more visible position by the bar. The dim light complimented his broad jaw-line and the planes of his face. Finishing her last twirl of her routine, Marge spotted him. She drew in a quick breath, he always seemed to take that away from her. Taking one more dip, Marge exited the stage and made her way towards her changing room.
"You were great tonight hun" one of the dancers commented as she walked past. She smiled but kept moving, tonight wasnt the night for small talk. Her plans with Homer took the front of her mind. He promised to take her away and she laughed when she said he was going to save her. Marge knew Homer was sweet and caring, but never knew how he could see that she deserved better. Or how he could love her. Either way, Marge knew that being with Homer was something she could always look forward to at the end of the night. Turning the corner full of excitement, Marge hastily opened the door to her changing room just as a husky voice spoke.
"Hello Love"
Terror froze her in one spot. Her heart beating erratically. Attempting to keep face she turned.
"Fat Tony. I didnt see you there"
Smirking he stepped towards her. "Now that I dont believe" His hand reached out and stroked the side of her face.
Marge was scared. The one thing Fat Tony had wanted, she couldnt give him. Not anymore. Not now since she had Homer. But Fat Tony always got what he wanted and right now it was to have his way with Marge.
Meanwhile, Homer still sat by the bar waiting for his girl to come out. Staring at the door that read "Staff Only", Homer took the time to reminisce about the first time he laid his eyes on Marge. He was a mess, his wife had just left him for his best friend Barney Gumble and sought for comfort at the bottom of a bottle. One night whilst under his drunk stupor, Homer stumbled into the local brothel. He didnt know why he was there, or what to expect. Visually he was aroused by the topless woman surrounding him, but emotionally he was distraught. Nothing could pull him out of the black hole he had been sucked into. No one seemed to car enough to realise how vulnerable he was. No one except her. She approached him, recognising him from highschool. Back then they were inseperable, until she moved away from Springfield to live in New York.
Anxiously she asked the disorientated man, "Excuse me Sir, but you wouldnt by any chance to be Homer Simpson ?"
Slurring his words Homer responded "Yeah thats me"
"Oh my .." she began.
Homer glanced up. Something about her voice triggered familiarity in his head. She smiled.
"You have no idea how much I've much wanted to see you again Homey" Though his sight was slightly blurry, Homer recognised who she was. The memory of their friendship back in highschool re-ignited some sort of hope within him. If he remembered correctly, he was secretly in love with her.
"M..Marge ?"
"You remember me ?"
"Of course .. we were .. I was .. I loved you"
Realising what he had just passed through his lips, he sobered up quickly. She smiled weakly, her cheeks flushed.
"I loved you too"
The silence that followed was neither awkward nor embarrassing. For some reason the two felt comfortable with around each other. They simpled stared at each other as if they could look into each others thoughts and read. Something between them had clicked and they knew it. It was only a matter of time before they acted upon it and once they did, it was amazing. They hadnt looked back since. Slowly coming out of his daze, Homer glanced down at his watch. Marge was taking a while to come out, and something didnt seem right. He got up and decided to look for her, first checking with the stage manager Moe. Moe hadn't seen her, but advised Homer to head backstage to her changing room.
Just as Homer was about to reach Marge's room, he heard her scream. Panic stricken, Homer rushed to her aid only to see Fat Tony holding her down. Marge struggling to get out of his vice-grip, looked to her side and saw Homer thundering towards her. Fat Tony however did not. Homer full of rage, threw Fat Tony off Marge, pulling her up to the safety in his arms. Sobbing into his shirt, Homer pulled Marge in closer, lifting her so he could carry her out. Fat Tony stood up and raised him arm pointing a gun at Homers back. He pulled the trigger. A scream followed, Fat Tony escaped. She lay there still sobbing.
He promised to take her away. He would do anything to save her. He knew she deserved the best and genuinely loved her. He was Homer Simpson.

I really liked this. I kept reading it because I was really interested in what happens and in how these characters act in that kinda enviroment. I thought it's a really cool idea putting Homer, Marge and Fat Tony into a strip joint situation (I particularly liked how the dim light complimented Homers broad jaw and planes of his face) .
ReplyDeleteI guess I woulda maybe liked to see a little more of the sleaze and cocaine side of things, even though that might have been hard to fit in with the word limit and all. Oh and what happened, did Homer survive the bullet? If you wrote a sequel to this I'd definitely check it out.
Great stuff, I really enjoyed it
